Bitcoin for All: Miniature Worlds in Felt
A Journey Through Characters and Culture
Bitcoin for All is a series of handcrafted felt dioramas that imagine how different cultures welcome Bitcoin in their own way. Each piece is a small, detailed world where familiar traditions, foods, and celebrations are joined by the symbols of this new digital currency.
I started this project after traveling to Bitcoin events and seeing how people everywhere were talking about the same idea, but with their own local spirit. These works are not only about Bitcoin — they are about how communities make something new feel their own. By turning these scenes into miniature felt worlds, I bring out both the playfulness and the humanity in a subject that is often thought of as abstract or technical.
Why Felt?
I use felt because it is soft, colorful, and approachable. It carries a warmth that contrasts with the sharpness of financial systems or the speed of digital technology. By choosing felt, I can slow down big ideas like Bitcoin and turn them into something personal and relatable. Every stitch transforms a symbol of money or a meme from the internet into a tactile, lasting object — something you can smile at and connect with.
GLOBAL INSPIRATION
Each diorama in Bitcoin for All is inspired by a different cultural setting, from festivals in India to street scenes in New York, from family meals in Japan to celebrations in Europe. The works show how Bitcoin’s image — the “B,” Satoshi, Pepe — can take on new meaning in local traditions.
In this way, the series highlights the global nature of Bitcoin while keeping it grounded in the details of everyday life. It’s not about one culture leading the way, but about many cultures interpreting the same idea in their own voices. The result is a playful, handmade record of how a global symbol finds its place in different communities.
